Designer not showing the wysiwyg window properly

#1

Postby Steve James » Tue Jun 28, 2016 3:51 pm

We've a new user who has installed 5.1.1 standard installation.

When she drops the likes of a group panel onto the page it is not displaying correctly in the wysiwyg window. By properly it is not showing at all in the wysiwyg wiondow but shows in the outline view and she can set the heder text via the properties view.

It's a basic installation on a Windows 7 laptop. We've had 3 other users download the 5.1.1 today without incident.

I can't find anything in the designer logs.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If there are no stacktraces in the logs, you might try changing the presentation template. Sometimes a reference to a non-existent style sheet (either from the form or from a template) can cause the wysiwyg panel to hang. Normally any missing references of this type are displayed in the Error panel.

Hi Jon, thanks, how do you get the error panel to display if the user has closed it?

I've tried changing the presentation template and the same issue exists.

This is a very standard install then the user is following the tutorials (ie no local workspace yet).

The Error panel will show automatically if it needs to. If it's not there, there aren't any errors. Are you sure there isn't anything in UfsClient/logs/ebase-designer.log?

We ended up re-installing it on the client PC and it is all ok now.

There was nothing in the logs.

As for the error panel, it shows on my Designer even though there are no errors. I see there are 7 panels but view only allows 5 to be shown/hidden. "Errors" and "refactor" are the 2 that are not user showable.

Steve,

I was wrong about the Errors panel - missing references are displayed in the Uses panel in red. The Errors panel should appear only when you have duplicate form names or some other duplicate name which is not permitted, it should look after itself i.e. doesn't need to be explicitly opened/closed.

Thanks Jon. We needed to get on so it was a shame we were unable to investigate fully.

That said we're beginning to think the user is jinx'd as they've had 2 unrelated problems. No one else is having the same prolems.

Thanks
