show a table rows vertically?

show a table rows vertically?

Postby xren » Tue Nov 25, 2014 3:05 pm

Hi,

Is there a way to list table rows as grid columns? not the current row by row but column by column (cells in a column represent each item in the table row)?

Then when add a row to a table, the grid will have one more column added?

Thanks,
Xiaoli

One way of achieving something similar would be to use a REPEATER control with a layout type of COLUMN, and just set the number of columns you would like see presented at any one time.

You can lay your table row out in the columns however you think.

The standard table navigation will work as normal and have the effect of scrolling your rows left and right in your columns.

Not quite the same thing that you were asking, i.e. actually adding new columns as table rows are added, but pretty close and very easy to do.

Hope it helps.

Following on from this, we have tried similar sort's of things.

Does anyone have any experience or advice in using Repeater Controls/Tables with the aim of producing a responsive table/repeater for mobile devices and upwards in resolution.

We are currently investigating the use of the Repeater Control with custom panels but maybe barking up the wrong tree (we want the editor to collapse below the label on small resolution screens)

Alex - can you supply a little more detail on what you're trying to achieve?

Cheers, basically we have a form with a Repeater Control. This control displays (at the moment) three columns on a row.

So it basically looks like your "classic" product display page.

These days, using bootstrap or whatever, you can reduce the amount of columns to fit the screen size available to you. For example on a mobile device it would display 1 column vertically.

Edit -> We have just had a little breakthrough so will test this to see how it looks before coming back.
