Scripting on Components

I have a component on a page.

I want to hide the component. I thought this would work, but it doesn't:

components.MYCOMPONENTNAME.hide();

I got no intellisense on the full stop after the component name. And, I get the error squiggle if I just type it anyway.

So, how would I hide the component?

How can I access elements within the component via script? The documentation seems to suggest I should have gotten SOME kind of intellisense prompt after the full stop.

It appears the problem was that I had given the placed component a numeric prefix. While ebase allowed it, the prefix appeared to keep the script from recognizing it.
