highlight field border when active

This may seem like a trivial request, but how do you highlight the border of a field when that field is clicked in and then de-highlight that field when you move onto another field?
I.E: Always highlighting the field that is active at the time.

You use "Stand Focus Style" to do this. This is configured in form properties on the Presentation tab, so it applies to all input fields for a form. To set a border, click on the Box tab, you may also need to click enable local setting at the top. You don't have to do anything else to activate/deactivate this - it all happens automatically.
