text control beginning and trailing spaces

Postby HarryDeBoer » Wed Apr 29, 2015 8:25 am

Hi,

If I type in a space char as first or last character this is automaticly truncated. I think this should not be the case. If I want something like:

Today there are more than 100 people. (and 100 is the value of a field) then I get: Today there are more than100people

<textcontrol><fieldcontrol><textcontrol>

Harry,

I think the browser does this - removes leading and trailing spaces. You need to generate your own spacing i.e. padding on one of the text controls or use a Spacer Control.

Hi Jon,

the spaces are removed in the Ebase IDE. As soon as you close the dialog for editing the text (Set text for control ...) then it already happens. No browser involved till that moment.

Harry,

You could well be correct. But I think you will find that the browser will also do this, so maybe that's why Ebase also does it. The comment about adding your own spacing CSS still applies - that's really the best way. If you still want your own space characters in the text you can add them as Then click the html option in the text control.
