Can I open the upload window in a new tab or as a pop-up window so that user still can stay on the particular page?

No you can't do this. The upload functionality is a bit limited - it's going to be reviewed in the next development cycle.

Thanks Jon. I've found some plugins for file uploading but most of them require php installed on the server. What would be a good solution/alternative to the ebase's upload function?

Could you do something whereby you create a separate new form to handle the upload logic?

That way you could potentially hand control over to the new form in a new window?
