The Ebase Server isn't starting up properly. The Ebase Server needs to be fully started, without any errors, before it is possible to start up the Ebase Designer (client).

When we've had this problem logged previously, it was caused by:
  • 1. The versions of the Ebase Server and the Ebase Designer didn't match.
Please confirm the timestamp of the ufs.jar files located in UfsClient/lib and UfsServer/tomcat/webapps/ufs/WEB-INF/lib are both the same?

    2. The DNS settings for the host name in the start_ebase_designer.bat file were incorrect.
Try pinging the host name, if that's what has been set in the start_ebase_designer.bat file. If the ping times out, the DNS settings need to be amended.

    3. The host name or IP address, Webapp name or port number are incorrect in the start_ebase_designer.bat file.
Double-check that these are entered correctly.

    4. The Ebase Server hasn't actually started up correctly.
Check the server log (ufsserver.log or stdout.log) for errors.

    5. Ebase Server and Ebase Client are using different versions of Java.
To check this, go to the Help menu within the Designer and select 'About Ebase'.
