Navigation problems after using browser back button.

I am experiencing a very frustrating issue when navigating through our application. The behaviour is as follows:

On an ebase form I have 2 buttons, both calling a script that navigates to a different form / page.

If I click on one of the buttons (i.e. button 1), I am taken to the target page (i.e. page 1) as expected.

If I click the browser back button, I am taken to the source page as expected.

Now, when I click the other button (i.e. button 2), I am taken back to page 1, where it should have taken me to another page (i.e. page 2).

Has anybody else experienced this problem / is aware of this issue. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated. (Disabling the browser back button is not an option !!!)
