How to generate word file using ebase

Hi,
I want to generate word file document using ebase.
and the content of word document are merged with the values which are fetch from database.

I don't know since what Office version XML file format is supported and if that version is ok by your requirements, because the first approach looks simple enough to do in Ebase in combination with a read/write textfile external resource in Ebase. A write textfile resource is delivered with Ebase. I couldn't find a read resource for Ebase, but I seem to remember it existed as well.

Must it be Word, because if PDF is ok as well you could use a print resource instead. The PDF you could design with Scribus.

Hi Joost,

Can you describe how you use Scribus to create a PDF for this situation.The information from the database is dynamicly so the PDF should also be dynamcly in combination with Ebase print resource.

I am curious if you were able to this as we were not (with Adobe Form Designer 7).

In Adobe it is possible, but not with Adobe Designer. At least I couldn't get it working. Using Acrobat Professional it is possible, but the main problem is you cannot edit a PDF once it's created. So moving text or formfields means doing it all over again.

I created a little PDF file which explains how to do it in Adobe Pro, but it is only in Dutch. It's full of screenshots so for non Dutch speaking readers it would work as well I suppose. Let me know if you are interested.

I currently have only two issues with Scribus, but they are no show stoppers. 1. I cannot get it working within my Citrix/PowerFuse environment; 2. It does not support radiobutton functionality. Checkboxes with a radiobutton style are supported though. I am considering raising a bounty for the latter. But it depends on the functionality Ebase v4.xx will offer.

Autumn this year I'm organising the Dutch Ebase Usergroup meeting where I could elaborate on Scribus.
