What is the significance of the UID number allocated to a form?

When importing a form from a stand alone machine to our server an error message "Form UID 1154 of imported form XYZ is already used by another form in the repository. Do you want to allocate a new UID to this form?".

I have not imported the form yet. I have looked in help but it gives me no insight in to the use if any of the UID Can you help?

The Form UID is a unique numerical identifier for each Ebase form. When exporting from one instance of Ebase to another, it often occurs that the form(s) have been assigned the same UID on both systems.

If you click 'Yes' on the error dialog, Ebase will simply reassign a different unique UID to the form(s) that are being imported.
