The Data Validation (ES130913_validation) sample app is an example of validating user entered data.

The validation is done on the server and messages are displayed both inline (next to the field(s) with invalid data) and as a group at the bottom of the page.

The link has a Ebase Xi V4.4.2 minimum and does not work in 5. The "See it live" link is also broken (tested today).
