Suggestion: Rename database resource

#1

Postby Segi » Thu Jun 18, 2015 4:07 pm

I'm not sure if this is something other eBase users run into very often but from time to time, I want to rename a database resource which is a bit of a complicated thing to do since as of eBase 4.X the only way to do this is to completely remove it from the form and the business view, rename it then re-add it to the business view and then re-add it to the form and re-do any customizations of the table.

It would be really convenient to right click a database resource, rename it and have eBase designer be smart enough to propogate those changes to all business views that the DB resource belongs to as well as any forms that contain that resource.

This is included in V5 - the ability to rename something and have all references to it refactored automatically. Having said that, the initial release of V5 will not include changing any references inside script code, but it will include everything else.

For your info, Business Views have been removed in V5.

Jon,

Thanks for the reply. So when we upgrade from 4 to 5, will eBase automatically transition resources from the business view that they belonged to in v4 to the project automatically ?

Any word on when v5 will be released or be available as a beta ?

Yes, the upgrade process will remove the business views.

The first V5 beta should be available in July.
